1989: Riverview Golf Course was purchased by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and re-named Safari Golf Club.
2012: World-famous golf course architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan completed construction on five new holes at Safari Golf Club. The course was also named "Best Public Golf Course" by Columbus CEO Magazine.
2015: Safari Golf Club was designated a Certified Monarch Waystation.
2018: Safari Golf Club achieves designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. Less than 2% of the 910 golf courses in Ohio, and only 2.7% of the 33,000 golf courses worldwide have currently achieved the distinction of holding this title.
